2016... The Year That Was

It all started off badly with One Direction splitting and breaking the hearts of young girls across the nation, Pokémon took over our streets, Prince and David Bowie’s phenomenal talent left us and Mary Berry called it a day on the bake off.... a massive bitter or sweet cherry (depending on your viewpoint) to top off 2016, came when Donald Trump, came up trumps in the US election.

A year that divided opinion on political and social fronts but one thing’s for sure it has gave us all much to talk about.

Here at Bedeck we have had a very busy year, doing what we do best. We focus on colour, pattern, floral, mood, texture and very importantly comfort. We nurture our design talent, we research and travel; trips in 2016 included China, Copenhagen and Paris. Season on season we develop and launch new collections, ensuring to bring our customers exactly what they want to suit their home and lifestyle.

So on the wrap up of another busy year, here is our highlight’s from the year that was 2016...

Clarissa Hulse

The Launch of The Clarissa Hulse collection in January 2016 was a very exciting addition to our licensed brand portfolio. Clarissa’s work brings together her obsession for colour and nature, the distinct hallmarks of her designs. Working alongside Clarissa our talented designers brought the stunning debut designs to life.

Bedeck 1951

The rebranded Bedeck 1951 collections went from strength to strength in 2016 with the new designs being greatly received by press and customers. The S/S 16 Damara bed was inspired by a striking fusion of ethic designs and rich colour palettes to create the ultimate bedroom treat.

The A/W 16 designs were inspired by the unique, vibrant heritages of Venice and Cuba. Both seasons had featured advertising in publications such as House Beautiful, Ideal Home & Elle Decoration.

Murmur S/S 17 Press launch in The Bronte Restaurant, London

Following on from the launch of Murmur, our first multi category home ware collection at Maison et Objet in September 2015, Spring | Summer 2017 will bring about the eagerly anticipated second collection from Murmur.

The collection continues on with the simple, less-is-more ethos the brand started out with, with a collection touching on all areas of the home from ceramic dinnerware, table top textiles and home fragrance to an extensive selection of cushions, throws, bed and bath linens.

The Press launch in November 2106, introduced the new collection to key media including journalists from Country Homes & Interiors, Homes & Gardens, Good Housekeeping, House Beautiful and Ideal Home. The collection was well received over a lovely lunch at the Bronte restaurant & we look forward to sharing the new collection with you all in Spring ’17!

Research Trips...

Copenhagen...

Copenhagen known as the world’s happiest City, was a dream for the design team to explore, a feast for the senses, an atmospheric city that just had to be admired in the most calm, slow living fashion.

The team spent a few days exploring the cities architecture, tourist attractions, museums and flagship stores.

Shanghai...

A few members from our design team set off to Shanghai in June 2016 to soak up the atmosphere, ramble the streets of old Shanghai, take photos, sample the food, explore details of the intricate typically Chinese architecture, sketch for future designs and immerse themselves in the complete Shanghai experience. Regarded as a trip of a lifetime, the discoveries made in Shanghai really have excited all back at the Design Studio for future collection works.

As the busy year winds down here at Bedeck we look forward to 2017 where no doubt another busy year will take place. With work already in motion on new designs you can anticipate more trend led designs coming through from our talented design team, the launch of the second Murmur collection, more research trips and much more interior and trend advice on our social channels.

We would like to wish all our customers a Happy New Year and can’t wait to keep you all up to date on all our latest news in the coming year ahead...
