For 2012/2013, fashion colours are making a big impact in the bedroom with a strong presence of plums, pink, lime and grey. In terms of pattern, florals remain prominent with the combination of large scale single blossoms with smaller scale all over floral patterns. Bold, clear patterns with a graphic sensibility are present in forms of black and white and also with the addition of grey and citrus tones.

Pantone have introduced Tangerine Tango 17-1463 as the Colour of 2012 following on from the success of last year’s colour, Honeysuckle 18-2120.

This vivid, rich colour has been chosen to lift our moods and confidence during these tough economic times. Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Colour Institute® describes the colour as “Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy.”

This colour trend can easily be used within the home to give you a burst of colour and energy! Try using Tangerine Tango coloured touches within a room, a cushion or throw for an instant effect or if you are feeling very energetic, paint a wall for a real injection of colour!

Suzani is a type of embroidered and decorative tribal textile made in Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and other Central Asian countries. Suzanis usually have a cotton (sometimes silk) fabric base, which is embroidered in silk or cotton thread. Chain, satin, and buttonhole stitches are the primary stitches used. Popular design motifs include sun and moon disks, flowers (especially tulips, carnations, and irises), leaves and vines, fruits (especially pomegranates), and occasional fish and birds.

Suzanis were traditionally made by Central Asian brides as part of their dowry, and were presented to the groom on the wedding day.

The brief for the jacquard was to weave a beautiful fabric that would shimmer like beaten silver, yet feel soft and
luxurious to the touch! To further enhance this look the bed was accessorised with crisp white cotton p`cases
embroidered with metallic yarns, then layered with a throw and cushions designed using a mix of silks and
sculptured velvets.
