Fable’s hallmark use of elegant, understated pattern and subtle colour palettes are key to the new Autumn/Winter 2016 collection. Having delved into India’s rich history of opulent, undulating patterns and elaborate embroidered textiles, the designers at Fable have created a capsule collection of three lavish bedlinen designs.
More than a nod towards India’s romantic vitality and ancient design heritage, the designs are a translation of the beautifully intricate detail, decorative motifs and delicate patterns inherent in ancient Indian design, updated with a contemporary and harmonious colour palette.
Crafted from premium fabrics in luxurious 300 thread counts, the stylised collection has timeless appeal and particular attention to detail with its hand-painted aesthetic. In rich tones of amethyst and pale mocha, the natural linen textures of the range hark back to the original lightweight cottons used in ancient India.
The complementing accent accessories- from cosy throws to tactile cushions-accentuate the inspiration behind the three bedding designs: Kari, Amirah and Chera.
Julie Hall, Head of Design, says “An Indian proverb encapsulates this collection for me:
With the ancient inspiration behind the contemporary and quietly luxurious collection, the exquisite detail and pure, high quality materials used throughout make for a stylish bedroom with a chic and subtly bohemian appeal.
Reminiscent of antique Indian tapestry work, the delicate florals of Amirah interspersed with small scale botanical decoration sit alongside a soft, neutral colour palette. The chintz-like design is accentuated by the contrasting Taj Mahal inspired geometric patterns of the housewife pillowcase and Nizami quilted voile throw, whilst the beautifully hand-embroidered Tabriz and Shivora cushions complete the look.
Kari is a delightfully romantic bedlinen in fresh white, offset by soft amethyst shades and a charming printed design. Its influence lies in an ancient Indian technique used to draw pattern directly onto fabric for an elegant, painterly style. Paired with the quilted Charbagh throw, the bedlinen is a sophisticated take on an ensuring artistic tradition, bringing a chic tint of exoticism to the bedroom.
In warm, dusky shades of amethyst, the opulent cotton jacquard of Chera is complemented by a finely drawn and richly intricate pattern based on an original Indian artwork. A grand paisley damask co-ordinates strikingly with an embroidered linen cushion and a luxurious velvet throw of deep amethyst.
